A Tale of One City

As our adventures carry on their trek to the western-most reaches of the Nentir Vale they were set upon by a pack of hungry and ravenous wolves right outside the walls of Treona's tower home. Stopping the wolves' feeble attempt at making the group, along with their freshly acquired horses, dinner they entered the tower ready for a little comfort and a little more information.

Treona was once a respected ritualist, working for the ruling family in the small city of Kiris Dahn. Life was good for the woman, though she noticed a dwindling population due to the bickering Kiris family, thinking more of themselves and the next to rule than the city itself. More and more vacant houses began appearing in the city though that problem was short lived as a horde of goblin-kind invaded the city and routed the remaining inhabitants out of the city and back to the more eastern cities and farmlands.

It has been eight years past now, the once bustling streets are overgrown with weeds, the grand towers and buildings that made up the more established side of town, now no more than rubble strewn ruins. The grand library near the center of the city has become a scrounging ground for fire-starter and kindling, the goblins caring not for puny words and more for the chaos wrought from taring the houses, contents and all apart.

The city is lost, Treona knows this beyond doubt, but one thing has come to her attention. A Slaying Stone, a magical device of ancient Tiefling design and a power not to be trifled with, has not been accounted for. The Kiris family thought all to have been used in their battles with the monstrous races, but one has gone unnoticed and must be recovered before it's taken up by evil. This is what she needs our group for, recovering the lost Slaying Stone and returning it to her so she may rid the land of its terrible magics before someone else finds it for their own nefarious designs.

The group now finds themselves in Kiris Dahn, now known as the goblin city of Gorzibadd. Surrounded by hundreds of goblins and a large number of kobold wretches squatting in the more undesirable locals within the city limits. They must keep silent and make their way though the city searching the burnt-out shells of old homes and buildings in search for the last Slaying Stone.
