The party sank into the shadows of Gorzibadd at the dead of night, hoping that the ruined city's inhabitants wouldn't notice their arrival. They were mistaken. They found themselves skulking through the town, ducking into burnt-out buildings and the like, dodging the constant parades of gobins and kobolds wandering the night-time streets with mischief on their minds. Trying to make quick work of their mission they headed straight towards the largest building in the town, next to that of the once more luxourious Kiris Estate: The Library.
A short-cut turned, lengthy and more dangerous than intended brough the group to a gatehouse on the northwestern side of the city. A kobold named Speelok was scrounging for scraps of anything useful. Its twin iron defenders, mechanical dogs that are magically attuned to protect their owner, staking out the adventurers and alerting their master to the presence of intruders. Speelok returned the unexpected guests with a concoction of the most vile smelling liquid immaginable, inadvertly summoning a giant Ankheg to the scene. Only to discover the group wasnt after it's 'prizes' only information concerning the whereabouts of the Slaying stones. Speelok unfortunately was devoured by the Ankheg before such information was given out.
But the moon was waining and the adventurers soon realized that they might not be the only ones in town with their eye on the Stone. Quckly taking refuge in a tower adjacent to the library the party was bombarded by some Kobold squatters, aiming to make the tower their defenses for the night. The kobolds attacked relentlessly, but their weapons werent matched very well against the swords and spells of the group.
Night became dawn as the party wandered the thrashed halls of the once grand library of Kiris Dhan. They managed to find one helpful hint from the locating ritual Treona had given them. The stone wasnt in the library but something else was. Great clawmarks the bredth of the goliaths hand were gouged into the marble walls of the building and a large section of wall was torn from the foundation as if some monster dug its way though the 2 foot thick stone in search from something. Not only that but a closer inspection of the room reveled a scattering of red-orange metallic scales near the busted-out wall.
The day came and went as the adventures took a well deserved rest, sequestered in an office. They took turn sleeping, each one catching glimpses of the chaos that happens during the day. They took note of a fare amount of goblins and kobolds nursing what seemed like branding scars across their left eyes. Apparently the other new-comers to the city weren't being so secretive about their whereabouts as they were...
