A portal Opened. A Foe Revieled.

The Party managed to make their way though the stables, removing a host of wolves and their wranglers from the chaos of the city, and entered the basement of the burnt-out Inn of the Tallest Fir. Expecting something less than ordinary within the cellar-turned-ritual house, what they found was something a little more unexpected.

The last member of the thwarted Severed Eye mercenary band had descended into the room wielding a vicious hammer and began cutting deep gouges into the very foundation of the room. Blinded by a rage that was beyond mortal reckoning she waded into battle with Lia taking a massive hit from her glowing blade then delivering one of its own.

Lianthala crumpled against the wall after a massive hit with the hammer and a heavy kick from the orc's heavily booted foot. The party, seeing their unconcious comrade fall within seconds ran to her aid. A series of quick sword thrusts and well placed bolts of arcane energies had the orc slumped against the wall, its life force extinguished.

The Mage, Rhys, set about quickly to recreate the Teleportation Circle to get back to Treona's tower as the rest of the party helped Lianthala back to consciousness.

A slight bit of nausea and a little disorientation was the only side-effects of the tumultuous transport to the tower. Treona welcomed them back to the tower with hot food, fresh clothing and some much needed rest. A small incident with Nameless attempting to take the Slaying Stone from himself had the group questioning his morality and the origin behind the Power, but a clear mind prevailed and he relinquished his want of the Slaying Stone. The Power was not impressed.

A week or so passed within the tower as Treona assisted in the Party's needs and upon their decision to leave she gave them a small map of the southern regions known as the Witchlight Fens. She explained that an ancient tower residing their may be the home of Dreus Matrand, the person responsible for the Severed Eye's involvement in Kiris Dahn. Treona would like to know her true intentions and how she came to know about the Slaying Stone in the first place.

A Nameless Ally

Having beaten their competition to a pulp, literally. The party rests to recover from the previous night's exploits. The festering wounds from the warerat's bite on both Lyka and Lia show signs of recover and their fevers break with the Healing expertise of Elric and Rhys.

Twilight returns to the city and the party turns to the manor house at the north end of town, looking to strike the head of the city, and hoping that with out it the goblins wouldn't form such a threat.

Hu-Jat, the hobgoblin leader awaited their arrival with open threats and an obvious superiority complex. The battle began with Hu-Jat's rage drake mount dying in a bust of hellish flames.

Nameless had wakened to the darkness of the manor's many rooms, unable to comprehend the reason for his being there, only that the Power that gave him his magic wanted something close by and thus sent him to retrieve it. He remembered bits and pieces of the last few days, wandering though the Southern reaches of the Nentir Vale, the Harken Forest and making a straight line to the ruins of Kiris Dahn. Lead by more instinct and an insatiable urge for something he had no knowledge of. Then more recently he was captured when a horde of goblins accosted him outside the city. His ire was directed fully upon those that would hinder his master's progress.

With the help of Nameless, the group soon dispatched the hobgoblin, allowing the escape of two of the manor guards so the word would spread of Hu-Jat's demise.

Nameless didn't know it consciously but for some reason he was drawn to remain with the group. Someone wanted him with them, for the time being at least.

Slaying Stones and Severed Eyes

The intrepid adventurers abandon the relative safety of their study room shelter to once again explore the dissolute remains of the library. Elric, the young Artificer directs the group to a laboratory bustling with activity, even in the early hours of dusk.

Sneaking a peak though the unlocked doors, Lyka observes a small band of goblins lounging about the doors, half-awake and barely aware of their surroundings. A curiously robed figure darts about a few bookshelves and tables, ripping pages from some of the more elaborate tomes and muttering to himself unintelligibly. A sneak attack on the destructive goblins was more than enough to bring their nefarious designs.
A quick search of the area found the group a few steps closer to helping Treona recover her lost tomes and a little more information on where their suspected dragon had possibly taken the slaying stone. They make a quick escape through the now deserted hallways toward the now dishevled shrines and churches. Hopefully something there could guide their eyes to the Stone's resting place.

What they found hiding out in a dessecrated shrine to Corellon and Sehanine was little more than astonishing. A member of the failed Kiris line, Kiris Hoyt by name was huddled beside a great fountain praying for help. The group questioned him and gain information of where the stone may be and confirmation of their suspected dragon, who is believed to be living in a hollow under the hot springs along the eastern edge of the city.

Just as the light of moon came into view though a sky-light, a goblin ambush took the group and their now deathly-looking counterpart by suprise. The goblins fell quickly to the swords and skill of the adventurers but the real threat was Kiris Hoyt, who had changed into a vicious looking rat-man hybrid and threateded to infect them with his disease ridden bite.

A lucky strike and a a little devine guidance from the matron and patron of the moon had the situation in order and sent Kiris Hoyt to the unending sleep of death, free from his Lycanthropic curse. But the group made haste, finally they had a bead on their charge.

The sandy ground around the grotto was definitely moved and it took no time for the elven avenger, Lianthala, to uncover the entrance to the dragon's den.

The Bronze Dragon that was in possession of the stone was happy to relinquish the stone to Lianthala, having seen into her true nature and devotion to the goodly forces of the cosmos. Truely it wanted to be rid of the thing as the stone attracted much too much attention for the dragon to exist in peace within its modest home.

An encounter with the other new comers to the city had the group making quick work of their opponents. Truly not a good day to be on the business end of their spells and swords. The Orcs of the Severed Eye Clan, had been tracking the group's movements and ambushed them outside the grotto soon after the group's departure.

Their ambush failed.

Miserably.

Kobolds & Ankhegs & Dragons... Oh My!

The party sank into the shadows of Gorzibadd at the dead of night, hoping that the ruined city's inhabitants wouldn't notice their arrival. They were mistaken.

They found themselves skulking through the town, ducking into burnt-out buildings and the like, dodging the constant parades of gobins and kobolds wandering the night-time streets with mischief on their minds. Trying to make quick work of their mission they headed straight towards the largest building in the town, next to that of the once more luxourious Kiris Estate: The Library.

A short-cut turned, lengthy and more dangerous than intended brough the group to a gatehouse on the northwestern side of the city. A kobold named Speelok was scrounging for scraps of anything useful. Its twin iron defenders, mechanical dogs that are magically attuned to protect their owner, staking out the adventurers and alerting their master to the presence of intruders. Speelok returned the unexpected guests with a concoction of the most vile smelling liquid immaginable, inadvertly summoning a giant Ankheg to the scene. Only to discover the group wasnt after it's 'prizes' only information concerning the whereabouts of the Slaying stones. Speelok unfortunately was devoured by the Ankheg before such information was given out.

But the moon was waining and the adventurers soon realized that they might not be the only ones in town with their eye on the Stone. Quckly taking refuge in a tower adjacent to the library the party was bombarded by some Kobold squatters, aiming to make the tower their defenses for the night. The kobolds attacked relentlessly, but their weapons werent matched very well against the swords and spells of the group.

Night became dawn as the party wandered the thrashed halls of the once grand library of Kiris Dhan. They managed to find one helpful hint from the locating ritual Treona had given them. The stone wasnt in the library but something else was. Great clawmarks the bredth of the goliaths hand were gouged into the marble walls of the building and a large section of wall was torn from the foundation as if some monster dug its way though the 2 foot thick stone in search from something. Not only that but a closer inspection of the room reveled a scattering of red-orange metallic scales near the busted-out wall.

The day came and went as the adventures took a well deserved rest, sequestered in an office. They took turn sleeping, each one catching glimpses of the chaos that happens during the day. They took note of a fare amount of goblins and kobolds nursing what seemed like branding scars across their left eyes. Apparently the other new-comers to the city weren't being so secretive about their whereabouts as they were...
